The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Treasury Board Secretariat was Associate Deputy Minister Bargaining and Compensation Reg Pearson, who brought home $354,604.22 in 2018.

Following Reg Pearson was Corporate Chief Information and Information Technology Officer David Nicholl, with annual earnings of $307,992.36. Deputy Minister Nancy Kennedy made $265,706.58, Provincial Controller and Assistant Deputy Minister Cynthia Veinot made $244,145.22, and Deputy Minister Karen Hughes round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $228,924.61 for the Treasury Board Secretariat 2019 Sunshine List.
